Heads-up: Unfollowers are detected by comparing two dates. A few mismatches can appear if someone renamed their @handle or temporarily deactivated. Don’t Follow Back uses timestamps and smart matching to catch most changes.

How to request the correct export

  1. Open Instagram and go to Settings & privacy.
  2. Tap Accounts Center → Your information and permissions.
  3. Select Export your information → Create export.
  4. Choose Export to device.
  5. On the Confirm your export screen:
    • Set Format to JSON (not HTML).
    • Under Connections, select only Followers and Following.
    • Deselect all other categories.
  6. Submit the export. Instagram will email you a download link.
